I love everything strawberry. Both because it’s always been my favorite fruit: beautiful, tasty, aromatic, and the flowers that lead to the fruit are so cute.
But it’s become a bit of a personal symbol for me. My last name, Frazer, is a derivative of the name Fraser. It’s contended whether Fraser’s origins are Scottish or French, but either way, even the Scottish clan it’s potentially derived from actually lived in France in the 11th century. So for all intents and purposes, it’s French. There’s debate on whether it’s a bastardization of some other Gaelic name, or a morph of other French surnames.
But the TLDR is that it basically sounds like “fraise”, or strawberry in French.
As an aside, I think it’s a really funny coincidence that the current … leader? of the Scottish clan is called “Kathatine Fraser” (lol).
Strawberry inspired crest
Anyway, the crest of the Fraser clan is a strawberry plant. So, I’m not the only one making the connection here.
I’m not into heritage, ancestry, or whatever. My family is multi-generational American, and I’m not even sure of any ancestors being of other nationality. However, my love of the fruit, and this linguistic coincidence make this the perfect personal symbol with some kind of deep rooted connection.
The candle
Now onto the candle. Candles are also a recent phenomenon for me, because the olfactory feels like the final frontier to explore wrt domesticity.
I love the way strawberries smell, and this candle is not a great representation of that, but it is a great representation of the “vibe” of strawberries. It’s fresh, floral, and reminds me of a nice spring or summer morning. It just feels clean, bright, and optimistic. It feels like it captures the same spirit or association I also have with strawberries, in a really inspired way.
